About Town of Porter Historical Society

The history of the Town of Porter and Village of Youngstown is informed by the lower Niagara River and the Great Lakes. The four-room history museum highlights the town's rich history and unique economic and cultural heritage as a farming community with close ties to Fort Niagara and proximity to Canada. The purpose of the museum, located in the Red Brick Schoolhouse, is to promote this heritage to local residents and visitors through a wide range of research and educational programs aimed at multi-generational audiences. There is a diversity of exhibits and collections built through collaboration and technology at this active museum. Genealogical research materials, including cemetery records and census data, are available.
