About Devil's Hole State Park

A wildly beautiful walkway leads down from the upper level of Devil's Hole State park to the base of the Niagara Gorge, where the Niagara River twists and turns alongside an amazing hiking trail. Historically, it was the location of the portage route used by Native Americans to bypass the rapids of the Niagara River and Niagara Falls.

The hiking trail begins in the wooded gorge and offers an up-close, spectacular view of the gorge's rapids. It is one of the most popular trails for hiking and for fishing. Please use extreme caution on the trail by following the signage and staying on the trail.

From the upper level, Devil's Hole State Park overlooks the lower Whirlpool rapids and the lower Niagara River.
