In 2012 and 2013, the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area received grants from the National Park Foundation, “America’s Best Idea” grant totaling $27,542.
To commemorate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812, the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area partnered with WNED to make available the PBS “War of 1812” Educator’s Kit.
Through partnership with the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center, the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area provided resources to the summer day camp program at the NACC.
The Junior Ranger Adventure Program is designed for kids, families and youth organizations to “Discover Niagara” by completing a series of activities at over a dozen sites within the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area.
The word "Niagara" is derived from the Iroquois Indian word "Onguiaahra" meaning "the strait."
