The team at the Discover Niagara Shuttle is excited to announce details for our 2019 season that begins in May. We've gone to great lengths during the off-season to improve our service and explore additional stops on our route. As always, we have to acknowledge the support of our partners, both public and private, for makings this important initiative for our communities possible. As we approach the season, more details will be made available, but there are some key pieces of information we are excited to announce now.
We'll offer full 7-day service Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Here are the opening dates of operation:
May 24, 2019-Sept. 2, 2019
We are excited to offer an express run from downtown Niagara Falls, NY to Old Fort Niagara. We have identified roughly five pick-up places in Niagara Falls that are conveniently located near the downtown hotels. This will allow hotel guests, or any one that wants to get an early start exploring our region, to head directly to Old Fort Niagara at 9am. Pickup times will be between 8-8:15am at the Early Bird Express locations.
After 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays, the shuttles will run a limited route to allow you to explore our communities and take advantage of the many dining and entertainment options available, and most importantly, catch one of our breathtaking, world-class sunsets! This evening route will include the downtown Niagara Falls stops, the Castellani Art Museum at Niagara University, the Lewiston Village stops, and the Youngstown Village stop.
In 2012 Nik Wallenda became the first person to cross the Niagara Falls by tightrope in 116 years. He did so after receiving permission from both the Canadian and United States governments, although he was required to carry his passport and present it on entry to the Canadian side of the falls.
